ECE

Our main purpose with establishing the ECE Project is to strengthen the refugee communities collectively, as well as on an individual basis. With this in mind, we have created an environment where children, caregivers and other community members can learn and flourish in their own space.

  • The Somali Federation Community and MOE entered into consultation in 2009, to initiate a playgroup in west Auckland
  • The Eritrean Community of New Zealand Inc initiated their project in 2009 and obtained their interim certificate in 2010 March. They meet every Saturday 1pm to 4pm at Scout Hall Range View Road Mt Roskill.
  • The SAFARI playgroup is a collaboration between ARCC and ARMS, which obtained its interim certificate in 2010 March. Over 20 children are enrolled, and four different community ladies assist on a regular basis. It operates at Mt Roskill War Memorial Hall every Wednesday to Friday from 9.30 to 12.30 noon.
