As the Auckland Refugee Community Coalition (ARCC) looks to the future to the Year 2012 it will have laid the foundation that will ensure that it is able to provide key services to its refugee client base.
As espoused in our philosophy, we are committed to bringing our aspirations into fruition to:
- Create caring and supportive community environments
- Provide opportunities that strengthen the Auckland Refugee Community
- Implement innovative strategies that encourage independence within the Auckland Refugee Community
- Provide opportunities to participate and contribute to Auckland’s diverse cultural and ethnic landscape
Therefore our Vision is to build:
A strong, vibrant and independent Refugee Community that is fully participating and contributing to the growth and wellbeing of the Auckland Region
Our Rationale
To attain this vision, ARCC treats every refugee community as sacred and understands that it must fulfil a strong advocacy and promotion role over the next three years to build momentum within the community so that it will be self sufficient and work together in an interdependent manner.
Therefore, ARCC’s mission and purpose is:
To advocate for refugee community voices and promote sustainable integrated refugee resettlement programmes
.
Our Objectives
- To represent refugee voices in local and national forums related to refugee resettlement and long term community development in New Zealand
- To establish a refugee community engagement framework from grassroots to regional level
- To promote regular inter-community group meetings to identify and reflect key settlement issues and address to the appropriate local agencies
- To unite and strengthen refugee community actions to improve social economic statutes
- To empower refugee communities to develop new skills and confidence and integrate more fully into their new country
- Involvement in community consultation, and to actively participate and contribute to national refugee resettlement forums
- In an advisory role towards NGO and government agencies and organisations on best practice for service provision towards refugee communities
- To monitor outcomes for refugee communities and advocate for the improvement of services provided to refugee communities within the region
